Connecting Students and COVID Safe Fun at Essie Mae Kiser Foxx Charter School
August 2020
The students of Essie Mae Kiser Foxx Charter school in Salisbury, North Carolina all received Connection Kit backpacks with devices during a three-day event in August 2020. The students ranged in age from K through Grade 6 and worked with volunteers who helped ensure students had access to the tools they needed to stay connected to their classrooms.
Additionally, The Home Page Program team connected a nearby Housing Authority with Internet so the students living there would also receive free broadband access during the school year.
Hands On Learning at Belmont Charter Elementary School
August 2020
The Home Page Program worked with Belmont Charter Schools in Philadelphia to provide laptops, backpacks and other school essentials to three schools in their network. The effort included over 900 students from Pre-K to Grade 5 over a two-day event. Volunteers participated in assisting students with receiving and connecting their devices.
The Home Page Program is also learning more about Internet needs of students and will be providing Internet in the area, free of charge before the end of 2020.
